World Trial Rules :

  • A couple who wish to be considered for selection shall have their points from each World Trial Championship recorded on a National Log Ladder.
  • The points gained at each World Trial Championship recorded on a National Log Ladder.
  • The top 2 scores for each couple will be added together and thus determines their position on the Log Ladder.
  • A couple must compete in two World Trial Championships for selection purposes.
  • The top 6 couples on the National Log Ladder will dance in the SA National Log Ladder on the Thursday or Friday before the SA National Championships

Allocation of Points :

  • Points will be awarded from Semi-Finals onwards.
  • If fifteen or more couples compete in the event, the couple is awarded 6 bonus points per dance, (e.g. 30 bonus points) for having made the Semi-final.
  • If fourteen couples or less compete in the event, no Semi-Final bonus points will be awarded.
  • Those couples who have made the final are awarded 1 point for every couple they have beaten, plus one for their own position per dance and overall.
  • Eg if a couple placed 1st in all five dances and there are seven couple in the final, they will be awarded 72 points which are made up as follows: 7+7+7+7+7 = 35 (for each dance) plus 7 points for being placed 1st overall, plus 30 bonus points from the semi-final
